August Catch Up

By Lyn Tout, Chair of the Board

Hi all,

How quickly things change in the world we are currently living in. Only a month ago we were talking about beginning competition and now we are all under some very new and tight restrictions. I trust that you and your families are safe and have maintained your health. I know that all of your lives will have changed - many more of you will now be stood down or working less hours or your business closed or limited in its operation. I sincerely hope that we all survive these challenging times and I trust that you have the supports in place that you need. Please reach out if you need assistance.

In the past week or so our hockey community has been saddened to learn of the losses of loved ones by three of our families (due to Non COVID reasons). On behalf of the Board and members of the Werribee Hockey Club, I extend our heartfelt condolences to:

Lesley McLauglin and her family;

Tanya and Jason Hood and the Walker family;

Peter Nalder and his family.

Our thoughts are with each and everyone of you.

To our sponsors - we extend our thoughts and best wishes – you and your businesses, are indeed facing very challenging times. We look forward to being able to get back to enjoying a life where we are once again able to work with you and support your business and wish you every success.

A huge shout out to:

Jeff White for the donation from his business to help us through these times.

Team Work Accounting Point Cook (Kelly’s business) for sponsoring us in the form of paying our

monthly accounting package fee.

Tash Smith and Brad Broughton who have donated all or some of their 2020 fees to the Club.

Your generosity and thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated and will certainly help us maintain the financial viability of our Club.

The Board will continue to monitor the situation and work to ensure that we minimise the impact of the shutdown and suspension of community sport on the viability of the Club. I have close contact with the Wyndham City Council and we are constantly on the look out for any grants or subsidies that may support us with the costs we incur during lock down. Early next week I should have further information re the financial situation at Hockey Victoria and how this will impact on membership fees. I will pass this info on once it is confirmed.

The Tiger Army is strong and bold – and we will survive, continuing to be one of the best clubs and hockey family in the state well into the future.

Every good wish to each and every one of you and your families.
