Fee reduction announced for 2020 season

By Lyn Tout, Chair of the Board

The Board met on Monday 22nd June and have set the 2020 COVID-19 Membership Fees. Our Treasurer, Kelly Breen, produced a very comprehensive set of scenarios incorporating the Club’s many fixed costs. Revenue variables (canteen sales, function income, etc. etc.) and a range of possibilities regarding the reduction to membership fees for the amended season and what this means for the viability of our Club. Not only do we need to ensure that we survive in 2020, but we need to be able to get established for 2021 and future years. We are already significantly down on our revenue with not being able to open the canteen, conduct functions or other fundraising activities, while still having to meet our set costs. As I am sure you realise many costs do not change just because we are not playing, such as insurance, power, bank fees, etc. and our revenue opportunities have also been and will be greatly impacted due to the restrictions.

What does this mean for members?

We have been able to provide members with around a 20% discount for this year only and hopefully when the competition returns to a regular season in 2021 fees will revert to similar costs to previous seasons.

If you have already paid your 2020 fees and wish to have the balance refunded, please contact your section coordinator who will organise this with the Treasurer.

Lastly, I wish to thank the Board for their work during these difficult times and in establishing what we believe is a viable fee structure that will ensure that we can survive the year and also be in a position to continue into the future. I look forward to your support and eagerly await the beginning of the competition.

Stay safe – and remember if you are unwell or exhibiting even the mildest COVID-19 symptoms or have a temperature of 37.5 or higher to stay home and seek medical advice.
