[Update] Club Training Restarts

By Lyn Tout - Chair of the Board

COVID 19 and Werribee Hockey Club – May 21st

Hi all,

As many of you are now aware, we have approval from the Council and Hockey Victoria to resume training.

I wish to state at the outset of this communication that if you have any concerns about resuming training we fully understand and that there is no compulsion to attend.

At the first attendance at training, every player will be required to sign that they have read the guidelines and agree to abide by them. It is vital that these are adhered to or we risk being fined and/or shut down again. The Club can be fined up to $9,913 and an individual $1,652 – I am sure none of you wishes to risk that and I know that the Club with no revenue coming in cannot afford this.

Fees will be adjusted in accordance with the length of the season – HV will set their fees and then WHC will adjust theirs’ accordingly. Members will be notified as soon as we are able to determine the final fee.

While we can resume training, we must do so under the rules and regulations as set out by our government, the Council and Hockey Victoria.

There are strict guidelines as to what training is to look like during this stage of returning to community sport and these are outlined in Guidelines. The approach to training must be “Get in, train and get out!” Please understand that there can be no spectators – no parents (parents can remain in their cars or go to other areas of Presidents’ Park), no children, no injured players who are not participating in training, unless you are engaged in the training you cannot be in the complex.)

WHC Guidelines for Returning to Hockey are outlined at the end of this communication. All players must agree to abide by these guidelines before they take part in training.

Training will resume for seniors as of Tuesday 26th May. Juniors will resume in the following week – the week beginning June 1. We are staggering the return to ensure that the processes we are putting in place work and are manageable.

We are permitted to have 10 players plus a coach and assistant coach in each end of the pitch – a total of 20 + the coaches at any one time.

Holly will be in contact with junior families re the start and times of junior training.

Senior Convenors and/or coaches will be in contact with you in the next few days to ascertain if you are ready to return to training and the times that you are able to commit to. Please do not commit to anything that you cannot achieve – we are limited as to the number of people who can attend at any one time and if you commit and do not turn up it will impact on the whole program. Let us be in this together!

Training will be for 45 min to ensure that there is no overlap of people arriving and leaving. It is vital that players do not arrive prior to their appointed training time!
